One thing I can guarantee as a Documentary wedding photographer at any wedding there’s always the opportunity for a bit of humour.
I’ll be completely honest, I like taking funny pictures, I look for them during the day - don’t worry though I don’t make your whole day a laughing stock , full of comedy wedding pictures !
Osmaston Park, Derbyshire wedding venue This picture was taken at Osmaston Park in Derbyshire - huge marquee in fabulous grounds surrounded by the rolling Derbyshire countryside, what a great place for a wedding eh !
Documentary Wedding photographer approach
As a Reportage photographer (based in Cheshire but covering the whole of the UK), a huge part of my approach is to simply fit in and observe , then take pictures of those things - just stuff happening as it happens.
I was stood with the wedding guests chatting away when the bride & groom were about to enter the Wedding marquee to have a nosey around. A gust of wind (from the saxophonist who knows 🤷♂️) caught Alice’s veil as she paused for her bridesmaids to take some pictures- and the rest is history.
Documentary Wedding Photography for me is all about being in a relaxed state of alertness and being ready for anything.
